WEEKLY READING: JULY 10th – 16th

I missed last week’s reading due to a busy (but lovely) long weekend here in Canada. After some fun and relaxation, I’m feeling the need to re-focus my energy and put my head to the grindstone!

From left to right:

7 OF CUPS REVERSED – GENERAL ATMOSPHERE OF THE WEEK:

You may have too many ideas and plans going at once this week. I certainly feel this way in the summer! I want to take advantage of as much as possible during the nice weather that I tend to overbook and overestimate how much I can get done. When reversed, this card tends to have a negative connotation. You are scatterbrained and lack direction.

PAGE OF RODS REVERSED – POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:

I like to look at the Page of Rods card as a motivational speaker, someone who inspires others to take action. You can see he is calling out a message – this also resembles someone who puts themselves in the public eye to spread word on something of importance. Whether this is advertising for a business or posting causes on social media, this Page is a savvy journalist or activist carrying a message of change. Reversed? This week you may be calling out your plans and ideas a little too early before they have had a chance to fully form.

THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE – HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TIME:

The Wheel of Fortune may seem like a contradiction, as advice for a reading about constantly changing plans. At its core, it is a card about embracing flux and constant change. Just like the teachings of Buddhism, the sooner you realize that everything is groundless, the better off you’ll be, eventually leading you out of the perpetual cycle of samsara, the endless cycle of death and rebirth where we want to throw the wrench of permanence in the ever-turning wheel. And in a way, the Page is attempting to cover all his bases by making so many plans because he realizes that things fall through. I think the main message here is to cultivate self-awareness about why you have so many pots boiling at once. Are you secretly afraid of relinquishing control by putting your faith into one or two tenuous goals for the future?

THE FULLY WOVEN STORY:

See how the Page is facing the 7 of Cups? The cups are unmanifested ideas that the Page flits back and forth between. Before even knowing whether a plan will go through, he’s telling the world about it on a megaphone. Watch out for this! Also, take some time to think about why you feel the need to fill up your calendar with more projects and social events than you can handle. Is it because you truly understand that life is change and are planning accordingly? Or are you trying to micromanage and stabilize every aspect of your life, giving yourself the illusion of permanence instead of “going with the flow”?
